I have been out testing for the last two days. We have some new prototypes in so I have been out riding. Yesterday morning was quite nice and I have been out on my usual route on the crossbar electric bike. I did 14 miles just to get a feel for how the bike was handling.
There are no geese on the reservoir but I did see lots of gulls. Loads of spring bulbs out in the college gardens too, which makes me feel that summer is only just round the corner. It was quite warm and two of the fields I passed had a distinct cabbage smell. There were lots of brown catkins that had fallen from the trees in several big patches on the bridleway, it looked just like there was a huge caterpillar invasion going on.

In the afternoon I went out on the step-through bike, it has nice curved handlebars and a very comfortable riding position. 24 miles but the weather had turned and most of it was in the rain, actually I quite enjoyed it, it wasn't too cold and there weren't many pedestrians about to get in the way! There were some quite large puddles which I rode through with gay abandon, it was only when I took off my waterproof over trousers that I discovered that the bottom six inches of my jeans were completely drenched!
Today I have been out on the step-through again, another 26 miles :-) the puddles were drying fast and 'marble corner' had changed character again. Yesterday in the wet it seemed quite innocuous but today in the dry the tarmac was quite sandy and the pea sized gravel had come out to play again, I had to slow right down to go round the corner - I didn't want to slide over. The caterpillar invasion was over, the rain had made then all soggy and they just looked like crushed vegetation, what a shame I did like the look of all those caterpillars.
